Area 18 Machine Trades is a course for high school students who wish to learn about the metals machining industry. Machine Trades will help you become a highly respected, precision machinist. Through classroom and hands-on experience, you will learn a good foundation of knowledge in the machine tool and also provide job entry skills

Area 18 Machine Trades is a two year course consisting of Beginning Machine Trades (VMT 1) the first year (juniors) and Advanced Machine Trades (VMT 2) the second year (seniors). Students entering this two year program should plan on completing the entire program.

Each related area has its own specialized skills and required knowledge. The information and skills which will be gained should prepare the student for an entry level position or serve as a foundation for continuing education in most any of these machine and tool careers.
