The first semester is mostly classroom activities with some
clinical lab experiences. Students learn about the different
careers in the health field from guest speakers such as an X-ray
technician, a speech therapist, a physical therapist, and a
pathologist.
Second semester students decide what career areas they are
interested in and begin to work in those areas. Those interested
in nursing, may choose to work in the emergency room, with the
medical or surgical patients, or in the labor and delivery area.
Students learn to take notes and prepare for the first job or
that first college course.
The students are given the opportunity to earn advanced
science credit and vocational credit. (Check with your guidance
counselor)
Opportunities also include a CNA certificate (Certified
Nursing Assistant), thus allowing them to enter directly into
the workforce.
